Phuket Blues Festival and 91.5 FM

What a weekend says 91.5 FM.

After the Phuket International Blues Rock Festival moved to it’s new venue and 91.5 FM stepped up to title/presenting sponsor this wonderful weekend music festival had all the makings of a great weekend worth of musical entertainment.

Nice one!!!

Phuket residents were not disappointed and the Phuket tourists that turned up also had a great time at the fantastic Laguna Phuket hosted event.

91.5 FM had interviewed most of the main acts during the week leading up to the festival, including Sky High, Grainne Duffy, John Meyer, Akasha  and of course the headliner Chris Thomas King.

The Friday evening went well with a prompt opening and start, a heavy shower of rain typical Phuket weather at this time of the year went by virtually unnoticed as the whole arena was covered, food and beverage was excellent and I believe there was plenty to drink.

Saturday evening saw even bigger crowds and all looking forward to a fantastic evenings entertainment, with 91.5 FM taking the event LIVE just after 9pm for a full three hours through the Grainne Duffy set and John Meyer and finishing off with Chris Thomas King.

Chris Thomas King received the ‘biggest’ bunch of flowers from 91.5 FM Director Kanyarat Jones to end what was a perfect evening.

In all it was a fantastic weekend.

Post Event.

The was a wonderful evening on the Monday at east 88 where many of the artists joined for a jamming set, followed on Wednesday with a live interview at the 91.5 FM Phuket Radio studios with local musicians Colin Hill and Patrick from Rockin Angels. During the week 91.5 FM re-broadcast highlights from the event Monday through Friday dedicating a full two hours on the Friday to the 91.5 FM listeners of the whole of the Chris Thomas King set.

This coming weekend see another dance music festival here

Phuket Vegetarian Festival 2011

Vegetarian Festival 2011

The Phuket Vegetarian Festival is an annual event held during the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar. It is believed that the vegetarian festival and its accompanying sacred rituals bestow good fortune upon those who religiously observe this rite.

During this time, local residents of Chinese ancestry strictly observe a 9 days vegetarian or vegan diet for the purposes of spiritual cleansing and merit-making. Sacred rituals are performed at various Chinese shrines and temples and aesthetic displays such as walking barefooted over hot coals and ascending ladders with bladed rungs are performed by entranced devotees known as “Ma Song”.
